Review Information: Provider names, care type, review text, Lotus Rating™ selections, and your name (optional or anonymous)
App Usage Data: Device type, operating system, app interactions for improving user experience
No Account Required: Families can browse and leave reviews without creating an account

For Healthcare Providers:

Account Information: Business name, contact information, facility type, license numbers
Subscription Data: Payment information (processed securely through Stripe), subscription tier, billing history
Profile Information: Services offered, location, photos, descriptions

2. How We Use Your Information

To Connect Families with Care: Display provider information and authentic reviews to help families make informed decisions
To Improve Our Platform: Analyze usage patterns to enhance features and user experience
To Process Subscriptions: Manage provider accounts, billing, and subscription services
To Communicate: Send important updates, respond to support requests, and provide customer service
To Ensure Quality: Monitor reviews for authenticity and prevent abuse

We take data security seriously and implement industry-standard measures to protect your information:

Encryption: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using SSL/TLS
Secure Storage: Data is stored on secure servers with restricted access
HIPAA Awareness: While we do not store protected health information (PHI), we design our platform with healthcare privacy standards in mind
Payment Security: All payment processing is handled by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor. We never store credit card information
Access Controls: Only authorized personnel have access to user data, and only when necessary

We do NOT sell your personal information. We only share data in the following limited circumstances:

Public Reviews: Reviews you submit (with your chosen name or anonymous) are publicly visible on our platform
Service Providers: We use trusted third-party services (Stripe for payments, Firebase for data storage) that are bound by strict confidentiality agreements
Website Hosting & Security: Our website is delivered and protected by Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as your IP address and browser type to serve pages, block abuse, and (if enabled) measure aggregate traffic
Language Picker: If you choose a language with the globe icon, the text on that page is sent to Google Translate to produce the translation, subject to Google's privacy policy. If you do not use the picker, no page text is sent to Google for translation
Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and users' safety

5. Your Rights & Choices

You have control over your data:

Access & Correction: Contact us to request access to or correction of your personal information
Deletion: Request deletion of your data (except reviews, which remain for community benefit but can be anonymized)
Opt-Out: Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time
Provider Account Cancellation: Cancel your provider subscription at any time through your account dashboard

6. Children's Privacy

Crossing Sunsets™ is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

7. Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

Remember your preferences and settings
Analyze how you use our platform
Improve performance and user experience
Remember your language choice if you use the language picker (Google Translate may set a cookie for this)

We may also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which reports aggregate visit counts without cookies or tracking individual visitors across sites.

You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not function properly if cookies are disabled.

8. Data Retention

Reviews: Retained indefinitely to maintain the integrity and value of our platform
Provider Accounts: Retained for the duration of your subscription, plus 90 days after cancellation for billing purposes
Usage Data: Aggregated and anonymized after 12 months

We may update this Privacy & Data Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice on our platform or sending an email to providers. Your continued use of Crossing Sunsets™ after changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
